Replace metal with high performance
Components made of BASF plastics withstand high temperatures in the oil circuit.
Lightweight components and optimum use of space contribute to fuel efficiency, and happy vehicle owners.
Ultramid® and Ultrason® high-performance plastics from BASF are used for oil pans, oil filter housings, oil regulating pistons, cylinder head covers, and oil sensors. And all can often be produced more economically with plastics than with metal.
Components made of Ultramid and Ultrason are lightweight and resistant to high temperatures and engine oils. They feature high mechanical strength and stiffness, and do not corrode.
Design freedom makes it easy to integrate additional functions. For example, developers have produced an oil pan with special bulges for optimum use of engine compartment space. Complex shapes can be economically manufactured for standard series production by injection mold processes.
